Matt Steffanina grew up in a small town in Virginia where he took an interest in hip hop and breakdancing at age 18. Without any studios nearby, he began learning how to dance by watching music videos and teaching himself. It wasn’t until some friends asked him if he would hold an open class that he began teaching hip hop class at a local community center. His style caught on quickly in Virginia and after several years of choreographing for local crews, dance teams and live shows he decided to try to make it in the professional dance world. After relocating to Los Angeles in 2010, he quickly began working in the commercial industry. Most recently he danced with Taylor Swift at the AMA’s & performed his choreography as a guest on The Ellen Show. Matt has also danced for artists such as Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, DJ Tiesto, Busta Rhymes, Tyga and performed on shows like So You Think You Can Dance, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and choreographed for TV and commercials overseas.
Matt has also made a big impact online through his YouTube channels and social media. With over 300 Million views and over 2 Million subscribers he’s been able to connect with dancers all over the world. Combining the ability to reach millions of dancers with his passion for teaching he created Dance Tutorials LIVE in 2012. The mission of the company is to bring online tutorials to dancers around the world that dream of becoming professionals. In only it’s second year, Dance Tutorials LIVE is one of the largest dance tutorial channels online receiving praise from magazines and dance companies worldwide.
Matt teaches weekly hip hop classes at Millennium Dance Complex and IDA Hollywood in LA. He also spends much of the year teaching master classes around the world and continues to work as a dancer/choreographer.
