Academy classes at Millennium Pittsburgh provide structured, consistent, technical training for dancers at an intermediate to advanced level. Academy classes are offered in ballet technique, jazz and hip hop technique, leaps and turns, and conditioning to help dancers progress through the various levels of multiple styles of dance. Academy classes run on a tuition payment schedule (read more about registration and tuition here) and are separate from our open drop-in classes.
Enrollment in Academy classes is by evaluation only. All students who meet the level requirements of the class may enroll for the season. While Academy classes are required for our Company students, you do not have to be a member of the Company Performance Team in order to enroll in an Academy class.
To schedule an evaluation for Academy, please email email@example.com.
We will also offer your first Academy class FREE during the first week of the Fall Session (September 4-10). If you would like to come try a class, please RSVP here.
Academy age requirement:
Academy classes are most suitable for students ages 7 and up. Since classes are based on level and not solely on age, young dancers who are more advanced may be placed in classes with older students and vice versa. Our faculty evaluates each student on an individual basis to ensure the best class placement possible.
Creating a custom class schedule:
While Academy classes and drop-in classes run differently, we encourage our Academy and Company students to take drop-in classes to customize a training schedule that works for them.
Participation in Academy classes does not require a commitment to perform. However, we will utilize Academy students for community performances throughout the season and dancers will have the opportunity to audition for various performances if they choose.
